About us
Suspirium Ensemble, founded in 2021 by cellist Gala Lozynska and mezzo-soprano Iris Bouman, is an innovative ensemble dedicated to early Baroque music and seventeenth-century vocal art. Driven by a passion for lesser-known repertoire, they are committed to dusting off and refreshing this rich musical heritage, ranging from French airs de cour and early Italian songs to Latin American Baroque. Suspirium Ensemble embraces a close-knit, collective approach in which a substantial continuo group of theorbo, baroque guitar, cello, violin, and percussion collaboratively creates rich layers of color and dynamic textures. This results in a transparent sound that demonstrates how early music can be exceptionally groovy and swinging. The international ensemble performs at leading festivals and across various countries. Suspirium combines historical expertise with a fresh interpretation, effortlessly bridging the past and present for a broad audience.
